Darren was exposed to the craft of woodworking at a very young age. His grandfather owned his own woodworking shop in Gloucester, Massachusetts, where he made the original lobster traps as well as some of his own machinery.
At around 6 yrs old, Darren would leave his home of St. John, New Brunswick, for the summers and work for his grandfather in the West Gloucester shop.
Shoveling sawdust for “a buck a bag” might not sound like summertime fun for a lot of young kids, but Darren loved it! His memory of the sweet scent of wood is still with him today.
After graduating from high school, he moved to Gloucester to find work. He cut his teeth in a woodworking shop in Manchester-By-The-Sea, working as a grunt man and eventually taking over the finish room.
Today, he owns his own business in Gloucester. Darren prides himself on the quality of his craftsmanship and his many years in the finish room producing finishes that are second to none.
When Darren and his clients have the freedom to create, they have produced one-of-a-kind heirloom furniture and built-ins. He works with interior designers and architects as well as within the residential and commercial realm.
Darren built the bars for Eastern Point Yacht Club in Gloucester, Strega’s and Pickering Wharf Restaurants in Salem, MA., Destino’s, The Blackburn Tavern, Cape Ann Brewery, Bass Rocks Golf Club, all in Gloucester, Massachusetts, benefited from Darren’s creativity, pragmatism and eye for detail.
